How does the sliding per-order fee work?
We apply four brackets proportionally to your personalized-order volume. Your first 100 orders each cost $1.00. Orders 101 through 1,000 each cost $0.50. 1,001 through 10,000 each cost $0.25. Every order after 10,000 costs $0.10. You never pay the higher bracket for orders that fall in a cheaper one, and the brackets are identical on every plan.
So why are there four plans if the per-order fee is the same?
The plans differ in features, not usage pricing. Free is a true no-commitment tier: one product, one template, all ten field types, all four generators. Maker adds room to grow (50 products, brand library, onboarding). Studio unlocks the AI Product Lab, conditional visibility, 300dpi exports, custom fonts, and priority support. Atelier adds the Shopify Plus Cart Transform engine, a public API, and a dedicated success engineer. Every plan pays the same sliding per-order fee.
Is the Free plan really free?
Yes. No credit card, no trial countdown, no forced upgrade. You get one customizable product, one template, all ten field types, and all four specialty generators. You only pay the shared sliding per-order fee when a customer actually personalizes an order — and your first hundred personalized orders each month are $1 flat. Build, ship, and see if Customei fits before committing to a base plan.
What exactly counts as a personalized order?
Any checkout that contains at least one line item modified by a Customei option set, generator, or template. Orders without Customei modifications are free — they do not count toward the sliding fee.
Is there a cap on how much I can be billed?
Yes. Total monthly billing is capped at $10,000 (base plus usage combined). If you hit the cap we stop charging for the month and a human from our team reaches out to agree on a custom arrangement before the next cycle.
Can I change plans mid-month?
Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately and we prorate the base fee. Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing cycle. The sliding per-order fee keeps running at its own rhythm and is billed at the end of the month for the orders that actually flowed through Customei.
Do you offer annual billing or a discount?
Pay the base plan annually and we take two months off — effectively a sixteen-percent discount on the base fee. The sliding per-order fees are always billed monthly at the same rates.
What about high-volume and enterprise?
If you are regularly running more than 20,000 personalized orders a month, we open a custom agreement on top of Atelier with volume-based per-order pricing, a dedicated success engineer, and optional self-hosting. Write to hello@customei.app.
Is there a free trial?
Every plan includes a 14-day free trial. No credit card needed. You can install, build, and publish — nothing charges until day fifteen, and cancelling before then is one click in the Shopify admin.
