Pay only for
what actually
sells.
A base plan, plus a small fee on each item you actually personalize, with volume discounts as you grow. Plans are chosen on what you can build, not on the fee. Nothing hidden, nothing metered by mystery, nothing “enterprise-only” that isn't already on this page.

A — Feature comparison
Just the differences.
What changes between plans is what you can build. Below is the same comparison the app shows before you subscribe; the shared baseline is listed under the table.
In every plan: Unlimited option sets · Volume discounts as you grow · Conditional show / hide rules · Live design preview before add-to-cart · Print-ready production files · Customer image uploads.

How does the usage fee work?
On top of the base subscription you pay a small fee for each personalized item you sell. Quantity does not multiply it: three of the same engraved mug on one order line is one item, while three mugs each personalized differently is three. The fee is tiered by volume — once you pass a threshold inside a billing cycle, every further item is charged at the lower rate, automatically.
Plans are chosen mainly on what you can build (templates, uploads and integrations), not on the per-item fee.
What counts as a personalized item?
Each personalized order line counts once, however many units it carries. A design that prints more than one sheet counts once per sheet, since each sheet is a separate print file.
An item is only counted once its artwork has rendered, so a render that fails costs you nothing. Regular, non-personalized products in the same order are never charged.
Which plan should I start on?
If you sell straightforward variations of a product, such as sizes or engraving text, and one artwork layout covers it, Maker is enough: option sets are unlimited there and you get one design template.
Move to Studio the moment an option needs to change the price, or you need a catalogue of different artwork, product mockups, your own fonts or a second store. Atelier is for production output (every print format, CMYK, 600 DPI) and outside integrations.
Is there a cap on what I can be billed?
Yes, on the usage side. Each subscription carries a capped amount for personalization fees, derived from your plan's own rate ladder and never set below $8,000 per cycle. Shopify refuses any usage charge past that cap, so a sudden spike in orders cannot produce a surprise bill.
The base subscription is separate and always the plan price you signed up on.
What happens when my free trial ends?
Every plan starts with a free trial, so there are no charges while it runs. When the trial ends, the base subscription begins automatically on your Shopify invoice.
Cancel any time during the trial and you won't be charged.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes. Upgrade or downgrade any time from the billing page in the app. Shopify handles proration automatically on your next bill.
How am I billed?
All charges go through Shopify Billing and show up on your regular Shopify invoice, with no separate payment method needed.
